It's Thursday. On Thursdays I share short stories about my old favorites - pieces of jewelry I've made when just starting out. This week I'm sharing 3 pieces - all made with faceted red agate - faceted red agate. I loved the sophisticated feminine appeal of these pieces. They are all sterling silver, except for the pin. I do not focus much on these styles anymore - they can get pricey. Check them out below. What do you think?

.On Thursdays I share my old favorites - pieces of jewelry I've made when just starting out. What do you think? My all time favorite - Botswana agate sterling silver wrapped bracelet. When I first saw Botswana agate and touched it - I was on cloud nine - literally (yes, like the saying). On my first encounter I felt like I was in another zone, because of this deep connection Botswana agate naturally became my number one favorite agate gemstone, so I used it in many finished pieces. Do you have a favorite gemstone? Leave your answer in the comment section below.
Photographing natural gemstones is very challenging to say the least; they are like a mirrior and reflect light and everything else around, and the colors can become distorted. The Botswana agate was the hardest to photograph. I've learned that a natural backgound is perfect for gemstone jewelry. I love the way the product photos turned out.

The year 2015 is coming to a close. I wanted to stop by and say THANK YOU!

This year has been a learning curve for Hannah’s Gemstone Jewelry, testing new marketing ideas and focusing on branding. I’ll admit that I spent too much time listening to marketing experts and trying to carry out their best tips and tricks. I spent way too much time on working on website templates and design and deciding on the best shopping cart platform.
Looking back, YOU, Customers and Followers, showed me that keeping it simple is the best way to go. As the saying goes, “if it aint broke, don’t’ fix it.”
Hannah’s Gemstone Jewelry, will continue to make jewelry gifts with care and quality while keeping it simple.
Here is hoping for more time with family and friends and easier and wiser decisions in 2016.

I think each of us may have our own natural stone that really works in harmony with us.

All I Had To Do Was Find A Clasp
I went to find a clasp to finish that bracelet I was reworking, but I had to shuffle through other supplies to find a suitable clasp, I wasn't sure what kind of clasp I was looking for either. Anyway, one thing led to another and I this happened...
How It All Began
Kay (I would share more about her at the end of this post) saw a photo I posted on my Instagram.
Kay said she had to have those earrings.
The earrings though were part of a set, you can not see it in the photo above, but the earrings match the pendant on the pearl necklace. Watch the photo below.
I checked my supplies to see if I had any left...I did...I had five of the puffy swirl heart charms left. Once I found them I replied to her comment on Instagram. You can follow our chat on Instagram @HannahsGems.
I created a special listing for the earrings for her to purchase and complete the transaction.
I later received an email from Kay saying that she would like to purchase a bracelet as well, but she wanted it in a different color. I said sure choose the bracelet you like and add it to your order.
Kay placed her order and left me a message with the order. Have you ever used or noticed a box at checkout titled something like 'note to seller' ? That box can be used to add custom requests related your order. Well, Kay wanted her bracelet in shades of green with charms to match her earrings (I thought that was a great idea). Also, I had intended to make more memory wire bracelets so I was glad for her suggestion.
The Building Of A Custom Piece Begins
I knew which beads I wanted to use but was not sure of the bead pattern for the beads. Actually, Kay was not very excited about the first design (no I won't show it). I got a bit carried away because of her use of the word bling in her message, the bracelet design which I was to work off of (the one added to her order) was more sparkly than the muted greens (it's the red agate and crystal bracelet available in my online store).
I felt that the bracelet would need more wraps than the orignal, I thought it would look better. I had two sizes of the Fire Polished Czech Glass in Green to use in the bracelet, the original had three sizes. I had to add gemstomes and I had green agate and moss agate (I used both). I was glad that she "love love" loved the beads. She did not want all the embellishments I added to the first draft. I strung and unstrung the bracelet as much as 10-20 times. I do not like using obvious patterns, but a simple design turns out to be the most attractive, thankfully each gemstone is unique in its coloring and patteren formation to add interest and uniqness to jewelry. Continue for some information on Moss agate.
About Moss Agate
Moss agate is said to be wonderful for gardners and nature lovers. It some how enhances that green thumb of theirs and helps them to connect more with the outdoors. For them and others who wear moss agate it helps relieve stress. I think it would be good for pregnant women and mothers to help them to be more intune with their motherly instincts.
