I mainly use sterling silver in my jewelry. Here are some tips for keeping that brilliant shine.
Well, the more you wear it the better, a jeweler told me this, your body oils help to prevent tarnish.
Also, remove your jewelry before you shower or go into the pool, basically avoid getting it wet.
Store it away from sunlight.
Store it away from other jewelry pieces or keep it protected when storing with other jewelry to prevent it from being marred by them.
It can be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution, but avoid doing this if it has porous gemstones, and dry thoroughly. I use Selvty cleaning cloth which is an organic cotton jewelry cloth for sterling silver.
For anti-tarnish solutions you can store it in anti-tarnish Ziploc bags, use anti-tarnish strips, or place a silica pouch(which comes with medicines, vitamins and so on) in with your jewelry if stored in a closed environment these help to diffuse the gasses which cause sterling silver to tarnish.
