When Did My Jewelry-Making Journey Begin?
I really started when I was about 16 years old, when I bought my first jewelry-making craft book. I also watched a lot of TV craft shows, but I didn't know how to go about getting the supplies to start a project. I had the desire to do something creative with my hands that will make others feel special and make me feel like I've accomplished something tangible. My other interests are drawing, sewing, cake decorating, graphic arts, making greeting cards, writing, and poetry; however I'm better at jewelry-making.
How Did I Learn The Art of Jewelry-Making?
All acknowledgements go out to my husband who invested in my desire for creativity. He bought all the supplies that I needed and took care of the financial details. He is my biggest supporter. Next I had to get familiar with the tools and learn the basic jewelry-making techniques such as the simple loop, the wrapped loop, and using jump rings. I spent a great amount of time surfing the Internet for tutorials and found various clips on YouTube. I kept practicing until I found what I was most comfortable with. Earrings were the first items of jewelry that I made.
When Did I Start Selling My Work?
I took my first creations to a community bazaar, not to get sales really; rather to get feedback. I also gave some as gifts to my family. I got into selling jewelry online in the year 2009 to reach a wider audience.
How Would I Describe My Pieces?
I would describe my pieces as fun, versatile, pretty, simple, stylish, elegant, long lasting, everyday, pleasing to the eyes and heart, and made for women of all ages and all occasions. They also make wonderful gifts.
How Have Others Described My Work?
I have been told that my jewelry pieces are “beautiful”, “professional” (for handmade), “stellar”, “perfect”, and “mesmerizing”.
